The new warehouse was officially opened in the presence of Mr. Tarek Sultan, Chairman and Managing Director of Agility, Mr. Elias Monem, CEO of Agility Middle East and Africa, Mr. John Gould, Agility Country CEO for Saudi Arabia and several high profile government and Agility officials.
Offering over 50,000 pallet locations, Agility's state-of-the-art warehouse will complement the growing volume of cargo handled in the region. Twenty thousand square meters of the warehouse is allocated for storing dry materials while an equivalent area will be dedicated to cold storage, with controlled temperature environments that range from -25 degrees Celsius to 5 degree Celsius.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Tarek Sultan said:
"After months of research, planning and collaboration, we have created a development that represents Agility and this land we call home."
"Agility has grown on a worldwide scale and now has a family of over 34,000 employees. We are operating in over 120 countries through 550 offices, we are acquiring new companies and signing joint ventures, and we are poised to emerge as the biggest brand in the global logistics industry," he said.
Agility's Riyadh complex offers a full range of warehousing facilities with automatic and manual handling equipment, enabling efficient operations through peak line-haul arrival and departure periods and earlier on-road departure times. Investment for growth in high technology depot facilities and IT service support continues to give Agility the edge.
Elias Monem, CEO of Agility Middle East and Africa, said, "Riyadh is the perfect location to give us quick and easy access in order to efficiently serve our clients' logistical requirements and the ability to grow our business. By providing the necessary infrastructural support, the new warehouse can help the Agility teams here to provider a faster delivery time and more convenient service to our customers in the region."
"The investment being made by Agility is strategically important both for the company and for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," Monem said. "We clearly believe that Saudi Arabia is an excellent place to do business and look forward to implementing our sophisticated supply chain initiatives in the region."
The warehouse will employ over 350 people at full operation.
