The event will bring together industry, government, legal, financial, and academic experts from around the world to interact with government officials and professionals from civil authorities and transports airlines, airports, air traffic services providers, aviation security providers as well as personnel of organizations directly involved in supporting the aviation business such as air cargo operators, insurers, risk managers, manufacturers, law and consulting firms, military personnel and international and regional organizations.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi the Director General of GCAA said during a press conference held on the occasion:
"This event constitutes a tremendous effort made by the GCAA and McGill University to contribute to legal capacity building for the aviation sector in the UAE and in the region".
"The UAE GCAA is committed to work with the best institutions in the world to offer educational events that will enhance our ability to capitalize on the economic opportunities being created by our aviation industry". He added.

The organizers have announced Etihad Airways as the official air carrier of the workshop and Conference. Also they announced Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), the UAE Armed forces and Emirates Aviation Association as Official sponsors, Royal Jet as Private Aviation Sponsor, Horizon International Flight Academy and Boeing as co-sponsors of the event.
The first day of the conference will discuss contemporary issues in Middle East aviation including the growth of aviation markets, trends in liberalisation of Air Transport, and privatisation of airlines, airports and air navigation service providers and other issues related to aviation safety & security.
The second day will focus on key areas for the liberalization of air transport, challenges for implementation of the Arab liberalization agreement and IATA's initiative for Unilateral Liberalization of Air Transport, and other issues that considered challenges subjects such implementation of the Cape Town convention and the registration of security interests and reducing noise pollution and fight green house gas emissions.
