Chapal sponsors Pakistan-Australia series match at Dubai Sports City

Pakistan and Australia will take on each other in a five one day match series in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and final Twenty20match later this month for Chapal Cup, according to Pakistan Cricket Board officials.

A signing ceremony to that effect was held at the at the Dubai Sports City offices on Wednesday between Ahmed Chapal, Executive Director of the well-known Pakistan and UAE based property developer, Chapal, and Mohammed Naeem, Financial Advisor to the PCB. Also present on the occasion were Zahid Noorani, CEO of Sports City International and U. Balasubramaniam, CEO Dubai Sports City as well as Mohammed Amin Chapal, Chairman for Chapal and Khurram Wahid, Director, for Chapal, Noor Mukaty, CEO for Mukaty Holdings, other officials and the media.

Expressing his delight at the announcement Mr. Chapal said he was happy that he could promote the cause of Pakistani cricket in this neutral venue and confident that cricket lovers would find the tournament closely fought and worth attending. He added that cricket in the region had been given a great boost by the addition of the new stadium in Dubai.

In response Mr. Naeem said he congratulated Mr. Ahmed Chapal on his offer of joining with the PCB to set up this series and said it was not only a boost for Pakistani cricketers but gave young blood in the side an opportunity to pit themselves against the best team in the world. He took advantage of the occasion to congratulate the Dubai Sports City officials on the completion of the 'very impressive' new stadium and said this series would make for a great start.

The two teams will begin their campaigns at 3 pm on April 22 with a day-nighter that will also mark the official opening of the state of the art Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium and confirm its stature as an international venue for the game.

The second game will be played on April 24th at the same time and this will be followed by three matches in Abu Dhabi on April 27, 29 and May 3, all of them with a start off time off 3 p.m. A final Twenty20match will then be played in Dubai on May 7 starting at 8 pm.
