This prestigious annual event will be held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, and will be open to the public and trade visitors. An opening ceremony for VIPs will be held at BIEC's Convention Centre on 16th April 2009.

Water for Life, the theme for RVBIGS 2009, will explore the theme of water as it relates to the history of horticulture and agriculture in Bahrain. Exhibits on display will include the ancient techniques used by the inhabitants of Bahrain to utilise fresh water springs and grow the plants and gardens for which the islands were famous for since ancient times. The show will also examine water and its essentiality to everyday life and exhibit the most recent research relating to water treatment and preservation.

Over the years, RVBIGS has evolved into a national hallmark event with Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, and President of the Supreme Council for Women, as one of its staunchest supporters since it was first launched as Bahrain Garden Fair 43 years ago.

This year, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Taiwan, Spain, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrain will be represented at RVBIGS 2009.

RVBIGS is organised and supported by the Office of Her Highness Wife of the King of Bahrain, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Kingdom of Bahrain and Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA) with Giardina Zurich as the International Strategic Marketing Partner.

Bahrain's premier annual flower show will serve as the meeting point for high-level regional and international buyers, gardening and horticulture suppliers, commercial delegations, diplomats, environmental organisations and their advocates and regional farmers.

New partnerships with local counterparts have been spawned by RVBIGS in previous years, demonstrating its strength as the perfect platform to enter the lucrative northern Gulf market.

Indoor exhibits will be segmented according to subject profile in order to improve traffic flow and deliver greater impact. These will encompass but will not be limited to flowers, plants and trees; swimming pools and equipment; garden technology, lighting and furniture; fertilizers; landscaping equipment and tools; ornamental metalwork; paving stones; irrigation systems, sprinklers; seeds and seedlings; children's playground equipment; aqua culture; jacuzzis, spas and hot tubs; greenhouses and garden sheds; awnings and canopies; ponds; and barbeque and grill equipment.

Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA) is the venue operator for BIEC. It functions under the Ministry of Industry & Commerce with His Excellency Dr. Hassan Abdulla Fakhro, The Minister of Industry & Commerce, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of BECA.
