Octal to participate in Sultan Qaboos University Careers Fair

The emerging global packaging leader is continuing to hire staff and bring on board more Omani graduates as the company implements the next phase of its expansion.

Headquartered in Muscat with its next-generation manufacturing facilities located in the port city of Salalah, Octal employs 93 full-time Omani staff and 42 Omani graduate trainees out of a total workforce of 342. Octal expects to hire another 100 staff before the end of the year.

Nicholas Barakat, Octal Managing Director, said:

Octal has exciting opportunities to offer capable, enthusiastic Omani graduates who want to be part of a rapidly expanding international operation. Around 30% of our employees are Omani, and we hope to increase this proportion in the near future."

Octal is recruiting candidates in a variety of disciplines, including electrical and mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Information Technology, and Instrumentation and quality control. The Octal booth at the SQU Career Fair will share information on the company and receive resumes.

Octal is already accepting Omani graduates through a training scheme in partnership with Salalah College of Technology. As part of the initiative, graduates study a dedicated polymers science course at the college and then complete work experience at Octal's production facility in the Salalah Free Zone. The training is the first of its type in Oman.

Earlier this year, Octal began operations of a new manufacturing complex in Salalah. The plant produces polyethylene terephthalate for use in food and consumer packaging and drink bottle manufacture.
