International Medical Care and Diagnostic Conference and Exhibition ended on Thursday

The 3-day conference attracted over 11000 physicians and visitors while more than 5000 people visited the exhibition. The event involved three parallel conferences, i.e, Dubai Disaster and Emergency Conference, Anesthesia Conference and Intensive Care Conference.

Dr. Hussein Al Rahma, Chairman of the Intensive Care Conference indicated that the conference discussed during three days 24 working papers dealing with the up-to-date ways for the treatment of critical cases in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and the latest drugs available on the market.

He added that on day 3 of the conference workshops were organized to discuss renal dialysis, the latest equipment used in the supervision of patients movements during rescue, heart failure, renal poisoning and feeding in intensive care.

He stated that the conference recommendations called for the activation of medical associations in Arab countries and the setting up of regulations and procedures to develop ICU services.

Participants also recommended the encouragement of hospital managements to develop intensive care systems in order to improve treatment, the organization of workshops to upgrade the skills of ICU physicians, nurses and technicians, and the setting up of health care data bases.
Dr. Victor Botros, member of the Emergency Conference Scientific Board, said that during the last day of the conference issues related to surgery, trauma in emergency departments, diagnosis of chest and internal bleeding, treatment in emergency rooms, quick decision making and the diagnosis of accident related immediate injuries were discussed. He added that workshops were held on day 3 of the conference and were attended by over 200 physicians and support staff. Topics discussed covered the use of ultrasonic rays in emergency rooms and precaution measures to be taken by medical staff in treating trauma cases. Dr. Botros added that the conference participants called for cooperation and coordination among all parties involved in accident treatment as time is the most crucial factor to save lives of the injured.

Dr. Mansour Nazari, Chairman of the Anesthesia Conference said that more than 28 working papers were discussed during the conference scientific sessions. He added that they dealt with the most up-to-date techniques used in pre-surgery anesthesia and the adequate dosage which is now automated taking into account the patient's height, age, gender and weight. He also stated that the use of such advanced techniques in anesthesia departments reduced the probability of repeating past mistakes. He also indicated that latest surgery related pain treatments were discussed during the conference.
