Volvo reports increased sales for 2002
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, February 25 - 2003 at 11:33
- PRESS RELEASE
Graham Carmichael, Regional Director, Volvo Car Overseas revealed today that the brand recorded 22 per cent additional registrations in 2002 compared to 2001 with 1,358 cars being sold in GCC markets.
Volvo sales in 2002 strengthened significantly in the United Arab Emirates, with Trading Enterprises achieving a 61 per cent increase in sales. Bahrain's Volvo distributors, Al Jazira Motor Co. delivered almost 100 cars after conducting a major review of their operations. Zahid Tractor, the distributor of the brand in Saudi Arabia achieved a more modest growth in sales during 2002, recording just under a 10 per cent increase.
For 2003, Volvo Car Overseas expects further growth in the GCC, but is cautious of its prognosis because of the greater uncertainties facing the region.
"With the introduction of Volvo Cars first SUV - the award winning XC90, planned for April 2003 and the high performance S60 R with 300bhp, hailed as one of the most advanced performance sports saloons to arrive later in the year, we expect to generate a much greater awareness for the brand," commented Graham Carmichael.
"This year we will be offering our finest ever range of cars, and we are aiming to appeal to a wider target audience as our offering grows. From the sporty S40, to the S80 Executive saloon with DVD rear seat entertainment system, and our new products planned for this year, we are confident we offer something for everyone," he added.
