- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, April 12 - 2009 at 12:47
- PRESS RELEASE
Mrs. Raja Easa Al Gurg, President of Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC), received Mrs. Antonella Colciago, Founder of the Women's Business Chamber in Uruguay (Camara Empresarial De Mujeres Del Uruguay or CEMU) and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of DBWC Board Members.
She noted the significance of such meetings that bring different views on business closer together. She also touched upon the need to explore the nature and reality of investment environments in both countries. She said that the meeting aimed at strengthening the already existing channels of co-operation between the UAE and Uruguay.
Mrs. Raja Easa Al Gurg explained the main goals and activities of the DBWC and its efforts to raise the profile of businesswomen both internationally and in Emirati society. She said that its work had developed markedly in the last few years. She also gave an overview of the accomplishments of the Emirati woman in the political, economic, and social fields.
Mrs.Antonella Colciago commended the comprehensive progress the UAE is witnessing and praised the outstanding role of Emirati businesswomen in pushing the wheel of economic development forward.
Mrs. Antonella also underlined the significance of exchanging visits for both countries and underscored the need to explore investment opportunities in both places. She stressed the importance of learning about each others' cultures and customs through the organization of cultural events. "Uruguay has a lot of potential which has allowed it to play an active role in tourism, in addition to its industrial, educational and medical roles," she added.
Mrs. Antonella mentioned that although the Women's Business Chamber in Uruguay was founded recently, it was working hard to establish strong relations with its counterparts in different countries, especially in the Middle East and the UAE. The Chamber was established by the great efforts of women in Uruguay, which included small, middle and large entrepreneurs.
It aimed to provide a suitable environment for meeting businesswomen's needs and interests and to enhance relations between its members to achieve commercial, professional and business goals.
