Royal Jordanian awarded Air Cargo Excellence Award

Following the fifth annual Air Cargo Excellence survey, Royal Jordanian was awarded the Air Cargo Award of Excellence in the Air Carrier category for achieving a superior overall rating from the readers of Chicago-based Air Cargo World magazine.

The award, a recognition from a globally leading cargo magazine, conducts yearly a survey that provides ratings from air freight forwarders in key areas of measurement for the airlines they do business with: customer service, performance, value and information technology.

Vice President/Cargo Ingo Roessler said the award is a well-deserved, and coveted, credit from RJ air cargo customers and Air Cargo World magazine. It shows improved communication with the clients and stakeholders.

The use of two web-based applications, inforwarding.com and afra.com, that provide distribution and access for up-to-date, real-time air freight rate information led RJ to achieve this award, boosting the services given to the customers on scheduled services and custom-tailored charter flights.

Roessler also said that the award highlights the airline's public relations role in increasing awareness about RJ cargo services and news in the leading media on International bases.

RJ participates in and attends major trade fairs and conferences, such as The Air Cargo Forum, The World Air Cargo Event, Air Cargo Europe, and IATA World Cargo Symposium.

"Our participation in major cargo exhibitions helps us develop the freight business and discuss major challenges affecting the air cargo industry,"

Ingo said.

Additionally, RJ launched its modern cargo website rj-cargo.com that includes all important information about RJ cargo services, tariffs and surcharges, air freighters, news releases, flight schedules, in addition to the 24/7 cargo tracker service.

The portal and the new cargo information technology platform Cargospot, introduced this April, allows RJ customers, logistics and forwarding companies to easily follow up with their shipments anywhere and anytime they choose.

It enables Jordan to be at the forefront of countries participating in the e-freight initiative launched by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which will create a virtually paper-free transportation process together with customs authorities for the benefit of the shipping community and the environment alike.

RJ plans to implement the IATA e-freight program in 2010.

Ingo added that RJ will benefit from increased brand recognition and will be able to maintain its client base on higher service levels.
