Under the Patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Labour the National Job Fair was launched in partnership with USAID Jordan Economic Development Program (SABEQ), on Monday April 6, 2009 for a duration of three days in an effort to recognize the ministry's goal of reducing the rate of unemployment in Jordan.

The National Job Fair, held in Amman Exhibitions Park created the opportunity for students and recent graduates to meet face to face with both international and Jordanian companies; fulfilling the need for gradates to find work as well as for the companies looking for skilled employees to join their workforce.

Additionally, SABEQ participated in organizing various workshops throughout the duration of the three days of the exhibition covering various topics such as Leadership and Interview skills, How to write a CV as well as Time Management and more.

SABEQ also facilitated the youth outreach event, briefing them about the available opportunities and how to benefit from the job fair; to raise their awareness about available organizations that support new graduates and entrepreneurs to start their businesses. Also putting on a show were Jordanian Actors, to bring the audience the Interactive Theatre.

This innovative play highlights the importance the critical topic of unemployment and ways in which to combat it. The theatre is a 30 minute dynamic exchange between the facilitator and the audience, where real success stories are introduced and discussed with the audience.

SABEQ provided trained volunteers in coordination with the Jordan Youth Commission to help with the job fair management and organization; assisting visitors with any queries concerning the Job Fair and directing others to their destinations.

The USAID Jordan Economic Development Program (SABEQ) is a five year broad economic development initiative implemented by Bearing Point, Inc. and a sizeable team of international and Jordanian partner firms.

By both supporting improvements in the business environment and providing assistance to expand innovation and productivity in Jordanian businesses, it supports the main objective of building up the private sector as a powerful engine of economic growth.
