Thailand adopted the tradition from the ancient Brahmins in India who believe that the sun re-enters Aries and completes orbiting around the earth on April 13.

April 13 is celebrated by all Thais throughout the country, the festival lasts for 3 days. It is tradition that prior to the New Year, people will clean their houses in hope of casting away any bad luck and welcome good fortune.
