- PRESS RELEASE
Today, Major General Staff Pilot Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Ayeesh, Deputy Commander of the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) and Chief Executive of the Saudi British Defence Co-operation programme, honoured BAE Systems employee Abdulaziz Al Shehri at a special ceremony at the RSAF's Headquarters in Riyadh.
Abdulaziz Al Shehri, a technician working on Hawk aircraft at King Faisal Air Base in Tabuk, had an innovative idea which has saved both the RSAF and BAE Systems time and money. He suggested that instead of taking a wing apart to perform regular structural checks a fibre optic camera could examine the inside of the wing via a small inspection hole. His idea was tested and found to be a perfect solution to a time consuming operation.
Today's accolade from the Royal Saudi Air Force is in addition to a Chairman's Award that Abdulaziz was awarded by BAE Systems as part of a companywide global recognition scheme which spearheads innovation and performance.
Peter Wilson, managing director of BAE Systems in Saudi Arabia, attended the ceremony alongside other senior members of the RSAF and BAE Systems.
