  • PRESS RELEASE

More than 300 industry leaders will today gather at the 4th Annual World Takaful Conference (WTC 2009) to debate the core issues that will shape the future of the global Takaful industry.

Again held in strategic partnership with Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), this 2-day gathering of market leaders at the Dusit Thani Hotel Dubai is without doubt the most critical in the 4 year history of the conference as senior decision-makers from the leading international Takaful players grapple with a changing economic landscape.

The 4th Annual World Takaful Conference 2009 is a timely opportunity for industry leaders to review the risks and opportunities in the Takaful markets as well as assess recent developments in the global Takaful landscape, especially the impact of the turmoil in the global financial markets on the industry.

WTC 2009 sets the stage for critical discussions on laying the foundations for revitalised growth in the global Takaful markets.

Paul M Koster, Chief Executive of Dubai Financial Services Authority will give opening remarks. The opening keynote session features perspectives from Lord Mohamed Sheikh; Dr. Saleh J. Malaikah, Vice Chairman and CEO of SALAMA Islamic Arab Insurance Company (P.S.C); Dr. Ahmed Al Janahi, Managing Director, Noor Takaful and Deputy Group CEO, Noor Investment Group; Jonathan Wilton, Chief Executive Officer, ACR ReTakaful MEA B.S.C. (c); and Gul Khan, Global Head of Wealth Management, of HSBC Amanah.

The high-profile faculty of speakers at the 4th Annual World Takaful Conference will also tackle the challenges of strengthening the global ReTakaful industry, reviewing the Shari'ah framework for Takaful, as well as exploring the opportunities for product innovation as a new growth engine.

WTC 2009 will also feature the launch of the 2009 Ernst & Young World Takaful Report, an original research project which will feature in-depth coverage and analysis of the Takaful industry in the Middle East and Asia, as well as in emerging markets such as Europe and North America.

The World Islamic Insurance Directory - a reference guide to record the growth and development of Islamic Insurance institutions, will also be launched the event.

More than 300 industry leaders are attending the 4th Annual World Takaful Conference on the 14th & 15th of April 2009 in Dubai to help chart the future growth path of the industry.
