Michel Noblet, CEO, HMH, said:
"We are committed to developing 100 hotels by 2012 - a target that may be challenging given the global downturn, however, we believe it is achievable. Our strategy has not changed, nor have our objectives. We have an extremely resilient, long-term vision that will withstand any storm. This is well-studied and well measured."

The pace of new openings for Coral Hotels & Resorts continues to be steady. However, Michel cautioned that a few projects may face some delays.

"We have a hotel opening practically every few weeks which is wonderful and explains the strength of our brand. Yet, there are a couple of properties that have been put on hold owing to recession and will need a little time to get back on track." At the moment Coral has approximately 2500 rooms and is expected to add 1200 more by the end of the year.

GCC particularly KSA, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman remain the main focus of expansion for the group. Africa too is big on the Coral plans.

Michel informed, "We are hoping to announce our biggest project in Africa this ATM. It will open a huge window of opportunity for us while giving us a unique foot-hold in Africa. Nearing completion is also Coral International Cape Town - a magnificent 5-star with outstanding facilties."

Other brands under the HMH umbrella such as EWA Hotel Apartments and CORP Executive Hotels are pressing ahead with their ambitious expansion plans as well. Defying the credit squeeze EWA is looking to add five new projects to its existing portfolio of seven hotels by early 2010.

Michel said, "We have a very balanced product mix catering to all segments of the industry and offering a full spectrum of choice in terms of hospitality. All our brands have been holding up well and continue to put in an encouraging performance. We are in the final stages of materializing some exciting properties for CORP in KSA and UAE."

HMH is looking to roll out a series of projects during the ATM. Michel said, "ATM provides a brilliant platform for exposure. Being a Dubai-based company it gives us a wonderful opportunity to showcase our products to the international and regional trade. We are extremely excited about our ongoing development and looking forward to showcasing it during the ATM."
