The 150 computers, which are worth over Dhs125,000, were presented to Red Crescent for distribution among underprivileged secondary school and university students in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). These students were carefully selected by educational establishments nominated by Red Crescent.
"We are delighted to offer our support to the Red Crescent Society of the UAE and their ongoing efforts to provide for the local community. We look forward to other charitable opportunities in the future that will help individuals in the region and reinforce our commitment to the local community."
said Mark Jardin, AGB's managing director for the Middle East and Africa.
This donation is just one example of AGB's ongoing charitable and philanthropic efforts, which also includes a recent Dhs90,000 Aetna Foundation grant to MAP International, a nonprofit organisation that promotes the total health - physical, economic, social, emotional and spiritual - of impoverished people in over 115 countries. AGB was instrumental in identifying the funding recipient.
In 2007, AGB acquired Goodhealth Worldwide, a leading provider of international private medical insurance for expatriates and high-net-worth individuals. Goodhealth Worldwide, through its partnership with a locally licensed insurance company, Royal & SunAlliance, currently provides private health benefits coverage in the UAE.
