Alhosn University showcases world-class academic programs and services at Getex Dubai 2009

The UAE version of the largest education fair in the Middle East and Asia runs from April 15 to 18, 2009 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Getex 2009 will be held at three venues: Dubai in the UAE, Bahrain, and Bangalore in India. The Dubai exhibition will focus on the three distinct segments of Student Recruitment, Education Equipment and Technology, and Careers and Training.

The event complements the UAE's education agenda for 2009, as the government has allotted around 23 per cent of the Dhs42.2bn annual budget for further development of the education sector. Vice Chancellor and CEO Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni and Marketing and Public Relations Manager Nadine Kanj will represent Alhosn University during Getex' four-day run.

"Educational standards in the UAE and the Gulf in general need to be significantly raised to better prepare the region's future workforce and maintain market competitiveness in light of the prolonged nature of the global economic downturn. At Alhosn we have been focusing on key programs and services aimed at making our students creative and critical thinkers and life-long learners. Getex provides a welcome opportunity for us to showcase our world-class offerings to a regional audience," said Prof. Sabouni.

During the event, Alhosn University will highlight its four new graduate engineering programs, namely, Master in Buildings Engineering, Master in Engineering Management, Graduate Certificate in Buildings Engineering, and Graduate Certificate in Engineering Management.

The institution currently offers 11 undergraduate and 7 graduate accredited programs in three faculties, with specific emphasis on engineering. These were developed in collaboration with Canadian academicians and are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Alhosn University also has unique programs for scholarships, special needs students, and women in engineering and is open to applicants from all nationalities.

The Abu Dhabi-based educational institution has been participating in several high-profile events such as a recent seminar conducted by the UAE Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the 7th Counseling Arabia Conference and World Autism Awareness Day to affirm its strong commitment to educational and social development.

Alhosn University started offering its academic programs to students from all nationalities in 2005. Its City Campus includes the Men's Campus, the Women's Campus, Library Building, Lectures Building and the Engineering Labs Building, all located at the centre of Abu Dhabi. A main campus with state-of-the-art facilities designed according to the highest international standards will soon be constructed.
