- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, March 01 - 2003 at 10:32
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai 2003 and their partner Audi have hosted a visit by a group of 15 German journalism students from the renowned Georg von Holtzbrinck School of Journalism.
Mr. Belselah also focused on the way that Dubai 2003 was using different types of media from television advertising on CNBC Europe to arranging visits for international journalists to come to the UAE to report on preparations for the Annual Meetings.
Following the presentation the students were given a tour of the new Dubai International Convention Centre that will host the Annual Meetings in September 2003.
The Georg von Holtzbrinck School of Journalism is the official school for young journalists from the biggest German publishing house for business media with publications that include Handesblatt.
Commenting on the visit, Mr. Belselah said: "We were delighted to work with our partner Audi to brief this visiting delegation of German business journalism students on the work that Dubai 2003 is undertaking to prepare for this global event.
"The eyes of the world will be on the United Arab Emirates in September this year and this was an excellent opportunity for us to communicate our preparations to a group of students who are set to become senior business reporters in Germany in the future."
Audi is an official partner of Dubai 2003 and will supply 260 luxury A8 limousine cars for use by senior Government Ministers and officials during the meetings.
Mr. Ali Bilaloglu, Managing Director of Audi's representative office in Dubai said: "I would like to thank Mr. Belselah and Dubai 2003 for helping Audi to host this visit from Germany's leading school for journalism. The presentation will play an important part in shaping a positive perception of the UAE as a dynamic and sophisticated business location as the country prepares to host the Annual Meetings."
The Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund were first held in Washington DC in 1946. They are hosted by an international city one year in three. Dubai and the UAE were selected because of its highly developed transportation and logistics infrastructure, growing importance as a financial hub and its established position as an oasis of opportunity.
