The ECSSR conducts research and studies on political, social and security-related issues relevant to the UAE, the Gulf region and the wider Arab world. To this end, the Center conducts research in several vital fields in support of government decision-making, and prepares and trains Emirati researchers.

The ECSSR is committed to promoting academic and scientific research in order to meet society's aspirations for development. The Center organizes intellectual gatherings; prepares forward-looking studies; examines public opinion; collects, documents and analyses data relevant to its mission; and cooperates with various government departments in the field of research.

Since its establishment in 1994, the Center has organized numerous conferences, lectures, symposia, workshops and seminars, covering topics across the full spectrum of its research interest. These events have brought together leaders, academics, experts, senior executives, politicians, intellectuals and opinion-makers from various countries, regional and international research centers, universities and academic institutions.

The Center regularly publishes academic books and monographs - which attract interest from experts worldwide - as well as Akhbar Al-Sa'ah, a daily publication providing regional and international analysis which is respected among the media and specialized government departments.

The ECSSR website has become a valuable source of reference material for researchers, as is the Center's UAE Federation Library, which supports experts and academics from all over the world.

In view of the vital role of the ECSSR, prominent guests to the UAE - including leaders, researchers, experts and academics - visit the Center in order to exchange opinions on topics of mutual interest.

Through its vibrant and progressive research over the years, the ECSSR has also established close scientific and collaborative relationships with other similar global research centers, institutions and academies.
