Following the success of the first and second Annual Pediatric Conferences, the launch of this year's event witnessed a remarkable increase in registered attendees, and addresses a wider range of children's diseases.
The three day conference launched yesterday at the Intercontinental Al Ain covers many important general and sub-specialty pediatric diseases such as leukemia, cardiac diseases, pediatric radiology; advances in genetics, endocrine diseases, neonatal medicine and other related topics.
Additionally, six separate workshops each attended by a minimum of 50 healthcare professionals, take place throughout the conference days and cover different topics such as neonatal respiratory support and mechanical ventilation, pediatric epilepsy, childhood diabetes (pens, pumps and sensors), and childhood asthma.
"This conference is growing and becoming more popular each year. This year, we feature prominent speakers from John Hopkins Medicine USA, as well as several distinguished speakers from Europe and the Middle East," said Dr. Walid Kaplan, Chairman of The Pediatric Department and Head of The Pediatric Endocrinology Division, Tawam Hospital. "The workshops are a great success because they focused on the updated practical and hands-on management of each subspecialty presented."
Dr. Kaplan continued, "The objective of each year's conference is to promote knowledge exchange among regional and international pediatric specialists in order to bring the standards of pediatric healthcare in UAE to the highest levels. The Department of Pediatric at Tawam Hospital is well recognized all over the UAE for its pioneer role in most of the pediatric sub-specialties such as hematology oncology, neonatology, cardiology, neurology endocrinology and many more."
