Mr Amit Arora, President of Skal Dubai Chapter, said:
"Skal Dubai is proud to have a presence again at ATM this year. We will be lobbying heavily for Dubai to be selected as the venue for the World Congress in 2011. Dubai is currently shortlisted as the host city alongside Helsinki, London and Andorra and by all accounts we are in with a strong chance."

The tentative date for the World Congress 2011 is 6 - 10 September. The event is expected to bring more than 1,500 international delegates to Dubai for a 5 day programme of presentations and touring. In 2010 the event will be hosted by Sydney, Australia setting the scene for 2011 which according to Mr Arora would be a triumph for the bustling Emirate to showcase its culture, cosmopolitan lifestyle and tourism product to the wider industry.

Skal Dubai will host a light luncheon at their stand UAE 1460 on Thursday 7 May at 1pm for both members of the Dubai chapter and visiting clubs. Skal members are encouraged to use the stand as a meeting point at the event and a platform for networking.

Skal is a professional organisation of tourism leaders around the world, promoting global tourism and friendship. It is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry. About Skal:

The first Club was founded in 1932 in Paris by travel managers, following an educational tour of Scandinavia. The idea of international goodwill and friendship grew and, in 1934, the "Association Internationale des Skal Clubs" was formed with Florimond Volckaert as its first President, who is considered the "Father of Skal".

Skal International today has approximately 22,000 members in 500 Clubs throughout 90 nations. Most activities occur at local level, moving up through National Committees, under the umbrella of Skal International, headquartered at the General Secretariat in Torremolinos, Spain.

Skal International is governed by an Executive Committee of seven members, elected by delegates to an annual General Assembly, held during the World Congress, hosted by a different country each year. This allows members first-hand observation of the travel and tourism potential around the world.
