Advertising spending worldwide will fall 6.9% this year to $453bn, according to ZenithOptimedia, an arm of French advertising group Publicis. In lowering a previous forecast, the media agency forecasts that the rate of decline will slow towards the end of the year and rebound in 2010. In December, ZenithOptimedia had predicted that the market would be flat in 2009. Spending on Internet advertising is predicted to rise 8.6% this year, the only medium that is projected to see higher expenditure on ads.
