Swiss set to appear in Arabian Travel Market; announces summer timetable
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, April 21 - 2009 at 15:03
- PRESS RELEASE
It's all systems go for Swiss International Air Lines, the national carrier of Switzerland, for this year's Arabian Travel Market.
Top executives of SWISS from the head office in Switzerland as well as from UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia will unveil the new product during the show.
As summer nears, SWISS also released its summer schedule offering more choice for customers which will serve 90 destinations in 42 countries. For travelers from the Middle East, attractive offers for Swiss Economy, Swiss Business and Swiss First class are now available providing more enticing options whether for leisure or business travels.
New European destinations from Zurich have been added to the summer timetable: Oslo, Norway and Lyon, France. Lyon will receive four daily flights while Oslo will enjoy a twice-daily service. Malta also joins the SWISS network, with a new daily code share service to and from Zurich operated by Air Malta.
The new schedules bring innovations to Swiss services to Spain, too: the present four weekly flights on the Zurich-Valencia route will be increased to daily service from the start of the summer timetable period.
Swiss will also be modifying its frequencies to and from London City Airport in response to changes in demand: between 20 April and 23 October, services on the Zurich-London City route will be reduced from nine to seven a day, while Geneva-London City services will be reduced from seven to six daily flights.
Swiss is also making a number of attractive enhancements on its intercontinental network. Customers to and from New York will be the first to enjoy the new Airbus A330-300 with its innovative cabin interiors from 20 April onwards. Dubai will be the second market to receive the aircraft come July.
For passengers from the Middle East who are traveling with Schengen visa, SWISS offers faster connections. With the first infrastructural modifications now complete, Swiss customers using Zurich Airport will feel the full benefit of Switzerland's adoption of the Schengen Agreement from the start of the summer schedules. The abolition of security and passport checks for transfer passengers using the Schengen Pier will save travelers additional time.
Swiss customers will feel a particular benefit here, as the airport's recently totally-refurbished Swiss lounges are all located in the Schengen Dock. SWISS customers using the airport's non-Schengen zone will be able to make use of a new SWISS Business Lounge and Senator Lounge located conveniently close to B22-29 departure gates, along with the present Bellevue Lounge facilities in Pier E.
Swiss operates non-stop daily flights from Dubai to Zurich, daily flights from Muscat, Oman, five weekly flights from Cairo and four weekly flights from Riyadh and Jeddah. Overall, SWISS offers a comprehensive network of 90 destinations in 42 countries.
