During a tour of the exhibition - the region's only international show for the chemical, petrochemical, chemical process technology, corrosion control and management industries - Al Mutaiwee said the council's existence is timely to guide Dubai's future development.

'The world today is facing many challenges. The Executive Council will support the government's efforts to meet these challenges and ensure Dubai's future prosperity,' Al Mutaiwee said.

'The economy is continuing to grow strongly and the council will work to cement economic integration within the framework of the comprehensive development of the nation.'

Al Mutaiwee praised the role of specialist trade shows, such as Chemtex and Corrosion, in bringing exhibitors and visitors to Dubai and boosting the emirate's travel and hospitality sectors.

'The participation of big official delegations from Asia's two largest countries, China and India, is proof that Dubai, despite mounting competition from other countries, retains its regional market leadership in the exhibition sector due to its high quality infrastructure and facilities,' the Director General said.
