  • United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, April 22 - 2009 at 10:22
  • PRESS RELEASE

At Cityscape 2009 in Abu Dhabi, the Netherlands is presenting a large variety of investment opportunities in hospitality and leisure projects.

The Holland pavilion at Cityscape features a number of high-quality projects in fields such as multi-leisure, culture, sports, hotels and resorts, events venues, theme parks, wellness and shopping.

At a seminar on the opening day of Cityscape, the location advantages and investment opportunities in the Netherlands were addressed by a number of key note speakers.

The event was opened by His Excellency Mr. Gilles Beschoor Plug, Dutch Ambassador to the UAE, who highlighted the historic ties and many similarities between the Netherlands and the UAE.

His Excellency Mr. Ton Hooijmaijers, Vice Governor of the Province of Noord-Holland and leader of the Dutch delegation, underlined the attractiveness of the Dutch investment climate.

"The Netherlands enjoys a strategic location and excellent business environment and is a highly stable and low-risk jurisdiction. The presence of over 6,000 foreign companies shows you that the Netherlands is a world class home for foreign companies."

Mr. Hooijmaijers commented.

Mr. Hans van Driem, Managing Director of the Holland Business Promotion Office, gave a presentation on the Dutch projects that are featured at Cityscape 2009: "Holland has been the cradle for the experience economy on the European continent. Famous Dutch architects, designers and producers have developed many projects in Holland and abroad. They have been the true pioneers of the experience economy!", Mr. Van Driem said.

The increasing consumer demand for 'experiences' creates opportunities for international investors and operators in this sector. In close cooperation with the private sector, the Dutch government will invest heavily in infrastructure and the development of sports and cultural accommodations.

Moreover, Holland has the ambition to host a substantial number of European and global sports and cultural events. This will offer many opportunities for international investors and operators to participate in hospitality, leisure and entertainment projects in Holland.

The Holland pavilion and seminar at Cityscape 2009 are a joint initiative of the Province of Noord Holland, the Cities of Rotterdam and The Hague, the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency and Holland Business Promotion Office.
