The WXC Series will help Sulzer to increase productivity and reduce the cost of application provision globally, while simultaneously supporting its corporate policy of data and application centralization.

"Our business demands a highly robust, fast communications infrastructure, able to rapidly and reliably deliver applications to thousands of users over long distances," said Bernhard Birchler, head of corporate IT at Sulzer.

"A new finance application highlighted some latency problems, which focused us on the general issue of consistent application delivery. Juniper's WXC Series was selected as the best solution following rigorous competitive tests. Since installing the WXC Series, Sulzer has seen a three-fold improvement in our effective WAN capacity, with a total compression rate of 68 percent since the start of 2009. Within this, our FTP application performance has improved by a factor of 5.6."

For more than a century, Sulzer has led the global market in machinery and surfacing technologies for a host of industrial sectors; from oil and gas, power generation and aviation to automotive, water distribution and specialized areas in the food, metals, and fertilizer businesses. Today, it employs more than 11,000 people in more than 120 global locations, delivering innovative technical solutions to help customers strengthen their competitive positions in the global marketplace.

The Juniper Networks WXC Series provides distributed enterprises with a scalable approach to accelerating the delivery of client-server and web-based business applications and services - including ERP, CRM, email and file services as well as voice, video and terminal services - over the WAN.

Juniper is recognized for innovative features that allow businesses to accelerate high volumes of traffic across a broad range of applications, including TCP, UDP, MAPI, CIFS and HTTP/S. Juniper delivers rich functionality such as QoS, content distribution and policy-based multipath along with an integrated configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting application.

The WXC Series application acceleration platform can seamlessly interoperate with Juniper's best-in-class routing, switching and security technologies. The platform uses software that fully automates provisioning and management tasks, which provide the network and application visibility to help deliver applications exactly as intended.

"High-performance companies like Sulzer want to derive competitive advantage by giving employees real-time, reliable access to important applications and services. They cannot afford the risk of slow or unpredictable application performance disrupting business,"

said Gert-Jan Schenk, senior vice president of operations, EMEA, Juniper Networks.

"The Juniper Networks WXC Series provides fast and consistent application response across the WAN to help ensure uncompromised access to mission-critical applications and services in support of Sulzer's key business objectives."
