- PRESS RELEASE
Turkish Airlines has increased service between Amman and Istanbul as part of their route expansion program.
A Star Alliance carrier, Turkish serves 36 cities in their domestic region and 116 cities abroad.
Dr. Candan Karlitekin, Chairman of the Board for Turkish Airlines said in a recent interview, "The most important elements driving this growth have been the development of new products and quality services and maintaining a favored position over our competitors while rigorously adhering to Turkish Airlines' culture of placing traffic safety as the basic principal in all matters."
On April 1, 2009 at the prestigious Skytrax World Aviation Awards ceremony held in Hamburg Germany, Turkish Airlines earned recognition when they received the 'Best Airline in Southern Europe' award.
Mr. Curtis Grad, Chief Executive Officer of Airport International Group (AIG) commented, "We first initiated talks with Turkish Airlines at the World Routes Conference in Kuala Lumpur back in October 2008, and we are very pleased to see these discussions mature and 'bear fruit' as Istanbul is rapidly emerging as one of the top gateways between Amman and Europe, with strong passenger demand and cargo potential."
"Over the past 18 months, we have focused extensively on enhancing service quality and efficiency within the existing terminal facilities and our dedicated AIG team is fully committed to further improvements and innovation as we eagerly anticipate completion of our new world-class terminal, which is due for completion in late 2011," Mr. Grad added.
The rehabilitation and expansion works at QAIA are well underway with the new passenger terminal extending over 85,000 square meters. AIG, under the terms of a 25-year concession agreement with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is responsible for the operation of the airport, the rehabilitation of existing facilities and the construction of the new terminal.
