With increasing trends of lifestyle diseases such as obesity, stress, diabetes and cardiac-related problems, awareness about the importance of quality, cost-efficient healthcare delivery and increased knowledge about the different disease areas is vital in helping to transform healthcare delivery in the region.

During ARC, GE Healthcare will showcase technologies and solutions at their booth as well as at daily symposia with leading industry experts.

The aim is to highlight to radiologists the innovative products, services and solutions to enable them to transform healthcare delivery, shifting the emphasis to detecting and treating disease at an earlier stage rather than later, when it is more difficult and costly to treat.

To address an emerging health trend - incidence of breast cancer - Egypt has been one of the first countries in the Middle East and Africa region to successfully launch a breast cancer-screening program.

Using GE's digital mammography mobile solution, local healthcare professionals travel from city to city, to reach more women for breast cancer assessment. The imaging data is transferred via satellite to a specialist centre for analysis and diagnosis.

"We are very pleased to be a part of ARC again this year and privileged to present to industry experts, institutions and the public the latest GE Healthcare innovations and highlight our commitment to this region," said Hamid Khoudli, General Manager, Africa at GE Healthcare EMEA. "The Middle East and Africa marks an important region for GE Healthcare and we aim to continue to play an integral role in transforming the region's healthcare landscape."

The four-day congress will bring together the largest pharmaceutical and medical companies in the field of radiology. A series of scientific sessions during the event will highlight radiological topics ranging from neuroradiology to musculo-skeletal and pediatric imaging. Visiting specialists will share technical learning and demonstrate their skills to further enhance the expertise of participants in radiology.

The conference, organized by the Egyptian Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (ESRNM) will cover a spectrum of radiological topics with keynote presentations by leading international experts, as well as workshops, discussion panels, teaching sessions and hands-on training.

GE Healthcare's focus of bringing to market new innovative diagnostic solutions has the potential to further enable healthcare professionals in the region, by increasing both diagnostic confidence and earlier disease detection.

This can potentially help reduce healthcare costs and increase the efficiency of treatment, ultimately benefiting the patient. Several studies suggest that earlier detection of breast cancer, heart problems and osteoporosis, among other medical conditions, will potentially help save lives.
