The exhibition, which commenced on November 28, has been extended till January.

The display features jewellery that won awards at the inaugural Pan Arab Gold Jewellery Design Contest, known as Al Ibda'ul Hor in Arabic that was launched by the World Gold Council last year. The exhibits, which also include designs that were highly commended at last year's event, are part of an on-going awareness drive to promote this year's competition sponsored by EMAAR Properties. Visitors to the Park can view the collection daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m from Saturday to Thursday and from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday.

EMAAR Properties will support the Pan Arab Design Contest not only through the Gold and Diamond Park but also at Emirates Hills, where a grand finale and a gala dinner will be held to announce the winners of the competition in April 2002.

Mr. Sami Al Ansari, General Manager, Asset Management, EMAAR Properties, said: "EMAAR Properties is delighted to showcase the range of gold jewellery created by talented young Arabs, at its world-class Gold and Diamond Park. Apart from being the region's only free zone offering a number of opportunities and incentives to gold and diamond manufacturers and retailers, the Park also aims to foster and support creative jewellery designers from across the Arab world".

Mr. Al Ansari added: "As a key sponsor, EMAAR Properties is particularly pleased that this prestigious contest will inspire the creation of hundreds of new designs that reflect Arab traditions, and also highlight Arab society's centuries-old association with gold. The display at the Gold and Diamond Park will give visitors an insight into the wealth of talent that exists in this sector in the Middle East".

The World Gold Council will also provide visitors to the Gold and Diamond Park brochures and information on the Pan Arab Design Contest, a limited number of commemorative CD ROMs and show special footage on the grand finale and fashion show at the Pan Arab Design Contest 2000.

This year's competition, which is open to all Arab nationals throughout the Middle East, has received thousands of entries in three categories - Occasion Wear, Casual Wear and Heritage Wear. The awards include a first prize of a seven ounce pure gold medal, trophy and a winner's certificate.

Mr. Moaz Barakat, World Gold Council's Regional Director for the Middle East, said: "The World Gold Council is gratified by the strong support given by EMAAR Properties to this annual event. The contest is a unique platform for Arab youth to demonstrate their talent by designing stunning jewellery in gold. What better location than the beautiful Gold and Diamond Park to display the winning entries of the talented young designers".
