During his visit Mr Wheeler examined potential venues for a reception the World Bank Treasury will host, visited the new Dubai International Convention Centre and discussed arrangements for the Annual Meetings with Dubai 2003 General Coordinator Mr. Ibrahim Belselah.
Commenting on his visit, Mr. Wheeler said: "I have been very impressed with the breadth and quality of the infrastructure and highly professional manner in which the UAE and Dubai are preparing to host the Annual Meetings.
"My colleagues and I at the World Bank are looking forward to having a highly successful event in September 2003 thanks to the outstanding efforts of the Dubai 2003 team."
