This training program was an initiative in breaking the barrier between AUST and the community. Dr. Ahmed Ankit, Vice President for External Relations and Cultural Affairs pointed out in his welcoming address that H.E. Dr. Saeed Salman, President of the University has in mind schools and the improvement of their education systems since he was a minister of Education in the 80s.

While encouraging the attendees to grasp the information given during the training, he also stated that this is only an introduction and further training is necessary to be fully equipped.

Over fifty high school teachers attended the event on e-Learning Management System (LMS) training, which concentrated on using Moodle as the primary tool of e-Learning. The teachers were divided up into three separate classrooms according to the medium of instruction, English, Arabic, and the combination of both, and were given lessons by experienced LMS practitioners.

Dr. Ahmad Dabbagh, Director of Academic e-Services at AUST, demonstrated to the attendees in live presentations the high interactivity that Moodle provides to both instructors and students as an open-source learning management system aiming to assist in the advancement and progress of education systems. The training program covered different contents including e-Learning Perspective, Navigation & Basic LMS Structure, Course Administration, and Learning Management.

Dr. Mirna Nachouki and Dr. Riyadh Mehdi presented the participants in the two other workshops with the way e-Learning systems allow teachers to transmit interactive content that integrate audio, video, images, as well as web content into lessons and assignments. To conclude the one-day program, participants were awarded Moodle certificates.
