IKEA deems this recognition a great honor at a time when issues related to environment are increasingly gaining attention from all quarters regionally and internationally.

The effects of global warming and climate change have already begun to be felt in the world, and institutions and individuals at all levels, starting from state establishments to common citizens, have joined forces to raise a rallying cry to save the planet from destruction.

It is at this juncture that IKEA's sense of responsibility towards the environment, which is an inherent part of IKEA's traditions, gains more prominence.

In the words of Mr. Emile Shaar, Store Manager, said:
"IKEA has always spearheaded the cause for a healthier living environment. Our products are environmentally friendly, and we have adopted a number of measures to ensure that wastages that harm the environment are kept to a bare minimum."

"Methods to minimize resource wastage and conserve water and energy are built into IKEA's system to ensure 100% conformity to our stated environmental commitments. Our reforestation programs to balance our procurement of raw materials for our products are a case in point," Shaar added.

Further Mr. Emile Shaar noted, "This year we have the privilege to be chosen on Earth Day as an environmentally responsible enterprise by the children of Super Kids Nursery. The kids honored us with their creative thoughts on the recycled IKEA bags, depicting how our day-to-day activities have a direct impact on our planet's environment."

In keeping with its commitment to serve the environment, IKEA Kuwait once again stresses on the importance of increasing awareness about our environment's health among the new generation in Kuwait.
