Dr. Howard Reed, Director of the college, said that trips such as these are encouraged immensely by Dubai Women's College.
"We appreciate the contribution by the Financial Services Program Advisory Committee members who made this trip possible even in trying economic times."
He added.
DWC students paid also a visit to the UAE consulate and met with the Consul General who shed lights on real-life experiences of diplomats. Other activities included visiting financial institutions like Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank and Mashreq Bank Hong Kong.
Commenting on the trip, Dr. Monica Gallant, The Chair of the Business Division at the college said, "International exposure is essential for our Financial Services and Banking students who will occupy leadership positions in the local economy of the UAE which is increasingly globalized."
Ms. Fahmida Habib, the finance faculty member who was the brains behind this triumphant trip said, "Planning and implementing an International Study Tour is challenging and requires a great deal of effort. But when the students are involved at each stage of the project it is much more rewarding since they mature and develop and it is much less taxing for the faculty in charge.
"I was very fortunate to have a group of highly motivated and disciplined students who made me and the College proud by leaving very positive impression with all our host institutions in Hong Kong," she added.
Fatma Bin Saifan, a participating student on the trip, pointed out that the major outcome of the trip was adapting professional skills in finance, time management and communication. "The knowledge and information that I have gathered from the finance professionals in the institutions we visited is immense. I am very glad to have been one of the girls who traveled. I feel there is a lot of information that I can share with the rest of the class," she concluded.
