Comex to host e-government services

Driven by the country's Digital Strategy, Comex 2009 will feature e-government services, aimed at enhancing public awareness of the importance and practical applications of such services towards developing a digital society.

To be held from 25th to 29th of May 2009 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, Comex will highlight e-Government services such as e-payment, e-tendering, e-health, e-learning as well as e-gaming.

"With the successful implementation of e-services in Oman, Comex serves as the right platform showcasing all these relevant services to the public, who may not be very much aware of their significance and use,"


said Mr. Atif Khan, Sr. Manager - Trade Fairs at OITE (Oman International Trade and Exhibitions), the event organizer.

e-Services are part of the government efforts in improving its service standards, and improving seamless services to applicants and beneficiaries ensuring accuracy and ease of retrieval. They serve as significant tools to achieve the digital economy & environment.

Comex showcases e-payment gateway, a cost effective and complete online payment solutions that simplify the processing of payment transactions, reducing costs and resources involved. Likewise, it will feature the e-tendering solutions, which enable public and private sectors to carry out aspects of the tender process online, including registration, documentation and fees, eliminating manual process and paper work.

ICT investment is viewed as a key element in the Sultanate's diversification plan. It is expected to have a greater impact on major healthcare institutions, education and entertainment sectors.

Comex 2009 provides a unique platform for telemedicine and healthcare, e-information and knowledge management, distance learning and computer based training, artificial intelligence, 3D virtual games and massively multiplayer online games.

Furthermore, with the increasing demand for modern equipment, state-of-the-art facilities and learning tools, Comex also opens its doors for mainframe computer and robotics, data storage systems and redundancy, digital peripherals and components, video conferencing and IP devices, digital imaging display and technologies, among others.
