Govt. departments and leading industry players to promote Dubai City of Gold

Dubai's reputation as a city of Gold, Diamonds and Pearls will be promoted in a special seminar by two government departments and three leading players across the industry.

The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Dubai Municipality together with Gold & Diamond Park (GDP), The World Gold Council and the Diamond High Council will join forces and hold a seminar for tour operators, guest relations respresentatives and concierges from Dubai's hotels. The seminar will take place at the Gold & Diamond Park, situated on the 4th interchange, Sheikh Zayed Road, from 3-7pm, on March 11, 2003.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Mohammed Al Falasi, Manager, Property Management, EMAAR Properties, said: "This seminar is designed to enhance Dubai's reputation as the city of Gold, Diamonds and Pearls by ensuring that the tour operators and the hotel representatives are well informed about the wonderful facilities on offer.

"By working with each party closely, we will be able to illustrate why Dubai is one of the world's best destinations for the gold, diamond and pearl industries. We are proud to be associated with such a scheme, especially when you take into account the pedigree of our partners."

Hosted by the Gold & Diamond Park, a project by EMAAR Properties (PJSC), the World Gold Council, the Diamond High Council, Dubai Municipality under the guise of the Dubai Central Laboratory, DTCM and GDP will make detailed presentations that detail Dubai's gold, diamond and pearl's facilities.

Information on the history of gold in Dubai, the emirate's gold re-exportation market, the impact of the gold industry is having on Dubai's GDP and how the industry will be promoted in the future will be provided by renowned speakers from each party.

The growth of Dubai has spurred the growth of the gold, diamond and pearl industry. Outlets such as the Gold and Diamond Park, which opened in May 2001, have enhanced the emirate's reputation by providing unique products and services. Dubai's reputation has been boosted further from endorsements from leading industry players such as the World Gold Council and the Diamond High Council.

"As Dubai continuous to expand as a regional and international business hub with a growing economy and tourist industry, as well as a thriving commercial environment, our vision is to strengthen Dubai as the City of Gold by utilizing the efforts of the various government, trade and industry bodies," explained Mr. Moaz Barakat, Managing Director, Middle East, World Gold Council.

"Both the World Gold Council and the Diamond High Council's support illustrates that Dubai is one of the premium destinations around the world across our industry. We have a rich heritage in gold, diamonds and pearls and with the continued encouragement from the government of Dubai we will continue to build an unrivalled reputation," commented Mr. Manan Desai, Gold and Diamond Park.
