Al Hosn's men's and women's student councils have teamed up with the Student Activities Coordinator to organize activities that emphasize the importance of cross-cultural unity and appreciation amidst today's cosmopolitan society. Students will work alongside faculty and staff advisors to manage exhibitions for the various countries represented in Al Hosn.

The special celebration complements Abu Dhabi events such as the first UAE festival of the World of Music, Art and Dance (WOMAD) held recently in the capital city which affirm a full appreciation of international culture and heritage.

Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor and CEO of Al Hosn University said, "People of all nationalities have been instrumental in helping Abu Dhabi attain its current levels of success, which is why the emirate is highly supportive of initiatives and activities that celebrate cultural diversity. This event shows how much can be achieved through mutual respect, support and cooperation among people of different cultural backgrounds. It complements our goals of inspiring our students to become productive, responsible and conscientious members of society, regardless of their nationality."

"Our students themselves are leading the activities of our 3rd International Day, which provides them with an opportunity to showcase their cultural heritage and their unity with people of all races. Through creative representations of their respective countries, our students, teachers and staff will promote greater cultural awareness and understanding in line with Abu Dhabi's support for a harmonious global community. Activities such as these also reflect Al Hosn's philosophy of global knowledge with local vision," added Ms. Barbara Sheehy, Director of Student Affairs / Career Development Counselor, Student Affairs Department, Al Hosn University.

Al Hosn University's International Day follows recent activities that affirm the institution's advocacy of important social causes.

The university previously marked its 3rd Earth Day celebration, affirming its commitment to becoming a 'Green University' and its support of Abu Dhabi's leadership in sustainability practices and policies. It also participated in the 2009 commemoration of 'World Autism Awareness Day.' The institution has been encouraging women to join technical fields such as engineering and in fact just held the UAE's 'First Annual Women in Engineering Event.'

Abu Dhabi-based Al Hosn University started offering its academic programs in 2005 to students from all nationalities. The University is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the UAE. It maintains 11 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs in three faculties, most of which were developed by academicians from prestigious North American universities.
