- PRESS RELEASE
Mr. Jamal Al Sayed, Sales Controller of Mohammed Jalal and Sons (MJS) Automotive Division in Bahrain, recently returned from a trip to Gibraltar where he saw the launch of the new Jaguar XJ series, claimed to be the most advanced production Jaguar ever.
From the very first XJ6 unveiled by Sir William Lyons in 1968, to the brand-new model that made its public debut in September 2002, there have been seven generations of XJ. The total production since the first XJ model in 1968 is now past 800,000 cars, accounting for more than half of all Jaguars ever made.
"The introduction of this superbly manufactured XJ has moved Jaguar to an altogether different level and represents contemporary British automotive luxury at its best," said Mr Al Sayed.
Some of the features of the new model are the 3.0-litre AJ-V6 engine, which replaces the 3.2-litre V8. The 3.5-litre engine is the new member of the AJ-V8 family. There are also 4.2 litre and 4.2 litre supercharged V8 engines available. The new XJ aluminium body shell replaces traditional steel construction, and weighs only 220 kg - the steel equivalent being 360 kg.
