The adventure will raise funds for the New Youth Children's Development Society (NYCDS) in Nepal to build a much-needed orphanage.

This will be Gulf for Good's sixth expedition to Nepal. G4G's Charity Director, Kim Lester, says, "over 100 people from the Gulf region have been to Nepal on G4G challenges since 2002."

"More importantly those challengers have raised just under one million dirhams ($271,000) helping to build the first community hospital in Ilam, in rural Eastern Nepal, as well as supporting the NYCDS near Kathmandu. So we are delighted to be able to go back and build on what we have already done."

she said.

For many, this will be the adventure of a lifetime, trekking in Nepal amongst the highest mountains on the planet, traversing varied landscapes and natural wonders, past Sherpa villages and Buddhist monasteries and from temperate valleys to snowline regions.

"Participating in a Gulf for Good adventure challenge is about making a positive difference to the world, but it usually has a huge effect on those taking part as well," adds Kim. " A very important part of each G4G challenge is the visit to the charity, where participants can see for themselves the excellent work being done for the disadvantaged children of the area."

Brian Wilkie, G4G's Founder and Chairman, explained "the Annapurna Circuit Trek is an extremely demanding test of fitness and determination."

"It will be a tough but exhilarating journey, but it is achievable by anyone in good health and willing to train for a minimum of 3 months to build fitness and stamina," he said. "There is no technical climbing, but there are plenty of challenging sections and trekking at high altitude is tough." Brian went on, "As demanding as this challenge is, the reward of making it over the Thorong La Pass (5,415m) will be momentous for everyone who makes the journey and I'm sure they will remember it for the rest of their lives."

Participants must be over 18 years and need to pay a registration fee and raise a minimum of amount of sponsorship money. Gulf for Good provide free training sessions to help participants prepare for the challenge and, as an added incentive, the 2009 participant who raises the most funds for charity on any adventure will be given a holiday for two in Nepal courtesy of Himalayan Holidays (G4G's Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit operator).

Additionally, the first 4 people that register for this challenge receive a free Nepal travel guide courtesy of Magrudy's Bookshops.

An information evening is being held on May 10th where you can find out about how the charity is run, all the challenges for 2009 and ask any other questions about the Annapurna Circuit Trek or any of Gulf for Good's other Charity Challenges.
