  • PRESS RELEASE

Dresdner Bank (DIFC) Limited, the DIFC-based subsidiary of Dresdner Bank AG, today announced it will be supporting Bonhams', a UK-based leading international fine arts auction house, 'Orientalist Paintings and Works of Art' auction in Dubai.

The auction will be held on Monday 11th May 2009, preceded by a Private Viewing for selected invitees at the One & Only Royal Mirage on 7th May 2009.

Arts of the Islamic World will feature an array of exclusive Orientalist and Middle Eastern inspired paintings and works of art, including sculpture, 20th century decorative arts, ceramics and glass, as well as antique arms and armour. Pieces range from a camel sculpture by Maurice Prost to Adolf Schreyer's Bedouin rider painting.

Nigel Putt, Senior Executive Officer Dresdner Bank (DIFC) says, "We are delighted to be supporting this event again. Many of our clients are active art collectors both for pleasure and for investment and maintain their interests through all market cycles. Whilst we have recently seen a great deal of activity in contemporary artists, it will be interesting to see the take-up of a more traditional genre - perhaps reflecting current trends in the wider financial markets . It is fair to say that in both the long term investor will be rewarded and so we feel positive that Bonhams offering will be well received."

Dresdner Bank has a long history of supporting art, with its own collection in Germany and its current student exchange programme for German and Emirati artists. This forthcoming event is the second time Dresdner Bank has supported a Bonhams auction in Dubai, the last being in November.

Building on that event, for the first time a charitable element is being added and hence the Private View will also be in aid of the Children's Hope Foundation, which aim is to provide medical, learning and leisure equipment for children and young persons suffering from severe illness and disabilities; or who are enduring extreme circumstances and for the relief of poverty and the advancement of education.
