Dubai Modern High School, aimed at Indian expats, opened today at its new site. But the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which oversees education in Dubai, has said fees can only be raised once the school has been completed and is fully operational.
The KHDA said that continuing construction highlighted that Gems had not fulfilled the conditions to raise rates. Gems disagrees and said the KHDA's decision was 'flawed and inconsistent'.
A Gems spokesman complained: 'It is particularly important to us that this inconsistent and unfair behaviour does not continue unchecked."
In a thinly veiled threat over the school's future, Gems said it would 'reassess the viability' of running it if the decision is not changed.
