TOSHIBA is to launch an extensive new range of mobile computers based on Intel's revolutionary Centrino wireless technology unveiled yesterday.
"This new technology has enabled us to reach new heights in mobile computing, with amazing battery life and integrated wireless connectivity," said Ahmed Khalil, regional manager of Toshiba Middle East's computer systems division.
"The four new Centrino-based series are specifically designed for corporate users and travelling professionals who insist on the latest technology to give them optimal flexibility and productivity.
"Integrated wireless LAN capability and extended battery life are combined with new mobile processor micro-architecture and wireless capability as well as thinner and lighter form factors, together delivering outstanding mobile performance. The new Centrino-based models carry Toshiba's exclusive three-year international warranty as do all Toshiba mobile computers."
Centrino technologies include a microprocessor, related chipsets, and wireless networking capability - the first time Intel has branded a combination of technologies under one name.
"Unwiring the PC will change the way people use computers, allowing them to communicate, be productive or be entertained wherever and whenever they want," said Ferruh Gurtas, business development manager, Intel MENA.
"Our focus on integrating all the elements of mobility allows Intel Centrino mobile technology to deliver an outstanding wireless computing experience. This breakthrough innovation, together with industry-wide investment and WiFi hotspot deployments, brings new computing and communications capabilities to businesses and consumers, adding value to mobile PCs," he added.
The new Toshiba series - the Portégé R100, Tecra S1, Tecra M1 and Satellite Pro M10 - will be launched later this month and will be available from Middle East distributors at the same time they reach European markets.
