DP World supports Supply Chain Logistics Group

Supply Chain Logistics Group (SCLG), Dubai, will be organizing its 2nd annual 'Global Logistics and SCM Strategy Day' on Wednesday, 6th May, 2009 in Dubai.
This group brings an opportunity of education, training, seminar and networking among like minded professionals and corporations on global basis. The theme of the event is 'Strategies for Business Excellence through effective Supply Chain and Logistics'.
Over 200 delegates belonging to senior management of SCM industry from across the globe will be participating in this event, comprising 18 speakers, 36 panelists, 6 moderators and 6 track leaders, who will be discussing different strategies of Supply Chain management.
The event will feature speakers and delegates from UAE, Ireland, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, USA, UK, Malta, Saudi Arabia and India.
"SCLG facilitates member companies and supports government bodies in formulation of policy framework for logistics and supply chain industry. It endeavours to provide all members an opportunity to network among each other and help facilitate an overall professional and congenial logistics and supply chain environment. Through these summits, SCLG helps to build strategies in individual companies, support the government in policy formation in industry growth, with an aim to weather these global challenges and arrive at strategies to tackle these challenges that the industry is currently facing," said Dr Madrecha, SCLG Regional Development Committee, SCLG.
The speakers will include Mr. David Maltby - Itsalat, Mr.Fredrerik Lindblad - Aramex, Mr.Cesar Presas - Maersk Logistics ME, Juergen Hirsch - Agility, Mr. Vikas Bansal - Nikai, Mr Ahmad Salama, Microsoft, Prof.Ian Reid, University of Liverpool, Dr. Dermot Cary, MRM Limited (Dublin), Mr. Mark Miller MPower Associates (Hong Kong), Prof. Donald Tham, Canada, Dr.Cedwyn Fernandes, Middlesex University, Mr. Lonmie Ayers, SAP, Mr. Paul Duerrschnabel - SSI Schaefer Systems, Mr.Kamel El Ghoussaini - Span Group, Mr Ravi Subramanyam - Launchpad Consultants, Mr.Ahmad Salama, Microsoft and Mr. Toni Junghaenelon - Motorola, Dr Ernst Schmied from Austria.
"As per earlier published reports Dubai's logistics sector represented 13% of Dubai's GDP. The sector employs nearly 7% (i.e., 75,000) of Dubai's total workforce, which represents 47% of the UAE total workforce of the sector. Moreover, Dubai has been playing a key role as an outstanding regional business hub in the areas of re-exports, real estate, retail business, leisure, aviation, logistics, information technology, banking and trading sectors. And the Strategy Day helps promote Dubai as an international center for supply chain and logistics which can bring into play the competitive edge of the emirate in the region," concluded Dr Madrecha.
After the invigorating sessions, SCLG will also be organising a gala networking event for all the delegates and many other SCM professionals and non delegates. Many CEOs and high-level officials will be there to grace the occasion.
