DWC Students from financial services and banking won the first place for their finance project called "Zakati", a new Sharia'a complaint banking product.
The Students successfully developed the whole concept of Zakato project along with the marketing plan and the tactics of implementing it.
Dr. Howard Reed, Director of Dubai Women's College, said:
"Dubai Women's College is proud to be acknowledged again this year as one of the winners of the prestigious Tamaiaz & Falak Tayyeb Award. The fact that eight DWC students also won individual awards is evidence that DWC students are being prepared to be effective contributors to this dynamic society. We applaud the organizers for providing DWC students with this opportunity."
Dr. Reed has further added how tremendous it was that DWC won two prestigious awards 'Most Co-operative Educational institution and the 'Educational institution with the Most Winners'.
Muna Mohammad, one of DWC winners mentioned that it was great to see companies in the UAE encouraging its youth to use their skills and creativity into doing something useful.
While its colleague Aysha Yousef added, "It feels really good to receive recognition on something that you have worked really hard on. The eight of us had put in a lot of time and effort in the development of this product."
"I am very proud of their achievement. This award proves to them that working sincerely on college assignments can bring in a lot of benefits," said Ms. Fahmida Habib, finance faculty member and project supervisor.
Sponsored by Mawarid Finance for the second round, Tamaiaz Award aims at encouraging and rewarding creative and innovative minds among students and new graduate Emirati citizens and boosting their chances of finding suitable jobs that match their innovation skills.
