UK Universities to have a strong presence at the 15th Gulf Education & Training Exhibition

The 15th Gulf Education and Training Exhibition, which is the leading education event in the Middle East, held from 8 - 11 April, 2003 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, will witness a strong participation from UK universities.

With over 40 educational institutions from the United Kingdom to be represented at this year's event, UAE students can select from a wide array of foundation courses, undergraduate, post-graduate and vocational programs on offer.

"Britain has always enjoyed the reputation of a leading educational hub, thus attracting a wide spectrum of students from all over the world. Over the years, with the growing requirement for higher and professional education, it is no wonder that educational institutes in the UK, are laying added emphasis on the UAE," said David Domoney, Managing Director, IC&E. "We are pleased to announce that UK Universities will have a strong presence at this year's event. The 15th Gulf Education & Training Exhibition endeavors to provide a platform for UAE-based students who are looking for further opportunities in the West," he added.

Cardiff University, who will be participating in the exhibition, has established itself as one of Britain's leading universities and continues to build on its reputation as an international center for teaching and research. Degrees from Cardiff are recognized worldwide and have significant vocational and professional content designed to meet the needs of industry, commerce and government. In addition, Cardiff University also offers an International Foundation Program in Business, Law, Engineering, Computer Science as well as Health & Life Sciences for those who intend to pursue an undergraduate degree. The university currently has a student population of 17,000, out of which 2,700 students are from over 100 countries.

The University of Gloucestershire will mark its fifth attendance at the exhibition this year. Due to the fast economic expansion and the consequent need for widespread knowledge, skills and understanding in management and computing, the University aims to be major contributor to education in the region. The University has introduced a series of new programs to suit the requirements of the Middle East, which include a fast-track executive program and an MSc in e-Commerce Systems that compliments its existing Masters program in Commercial Computing and Multimedia. The university also offers an MA in Leading Change that is of interest to those engaged in the management of change taking place at the organizational and governmental level in the region. Undergraduate students will also greatly benefit from the new final year top-up program for higher students who wish to complete their studies or add to their Higher National Diploma with a BA (Hons) in Strategic Business Management.

Another key participant is the University of Strathclyde Graduate School of Business, which has gained international recognition as one of the most innovative business schools in Europe. The school has provided an extensive range of high quality management education for 50 years and for over 35 years has offered the Master of Business Administration program. It is the only business school in Scotland to gain EQUIS accreditation and one of only 10 in the UK to hold this European stamp of excellence. In addition, Strathclyde also holds the highest possible award of 'Excellence' from the UK Government's Teaching Quality Assessment, one of only 19 universities to have attained this level of teaching quality.

With one of the largest campuses in the UK, Loughborough University offers students the opportunity to study at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Through it's participation at the 15th Gulf Education & Training Exhibition, the university aims to create widespread awareness in the Middle East about the series of courses it offers in the engineering, science as well as social sciences and humanities faculties. Currently, it has 24 academic departments with over 30 research institutes and centers.

Abertay Dundee, a leading Scottish university offers international students a friendly and welcoming environment to study in. Students can choose from leading courses in computer arts and computer games technology and is home to the International Centre for Computer Games and Virtual Entertainment, which is unique in Europe. Another striking feature is that it is the only university in Scotland at present to offer undergraduate degrees in forensic sciences and forensic psychobiology.

Organized by International Conferences & Exhibitions (IC&E), the 15th Gulf Education & Training Exhibition is held under the patronage of the UAE Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research, H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan.
