Developed by Aldar, The Yas Hotel will be the first hotel operated by Aldar Hotels and Hospitality and one of seven hotels opening on Yas Island for the 2009 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November.

Lead architects for the project are Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture, founders and principals of Asymptote Architecture.

The hotel features a gridshell structure, that incorporates a striking veil of steel and glass featuring programmed lighting and image sequences, which fuse the two sections that span both the circuit and the marina.

A bridge stretches between the Main building and the Marina Tower, enclosing a bar and restaurant with executive level bridge that will house a rotating exhibition of contemporary artwork by Emirati and GCC artists.

The Yas Hotel features 252 deluxe and 247 executive rooms and suites all with exceptional views that use innovative materials selected to ensure the design is both progressive and comfortable.

The hotel's two signature presidential suites each measuring over 400sqm, feature original contemporary artwork, a dedicated lift and enjoy full terrace access and a lap pool. The suites also have a full chef's kitchen with a dining room accommodating up to 16 people.

The hotel boasts 14 entertainment and dining options as well as a total of 1625sqm in Conference and Banqueting space that includes a ballroom. Other features include a luxury spa that reinterprets the traditional hamam; a state-of-the-art gym and a metamorphic roof space with lounge, café and pools.

The Yas Hotel will also provide excellent access to other recreational facilities in phase 1 of Yas Island which include an 18-hole Links Championship Golf Course and a 143 berth Marina. Other facilities opening at a later stage include Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, and the 350,000sqm Yas Mall retail development.

Speaking at the launch of The Yas Hotel, Paul Bell, Managing Director of Aldar Hotels & Hospitality, said,
