ME traffic to Sri Lanka surges by 24%

Sri Lanka mounted a strong presence at the Arabian Travel Market 2009 with a 100-strong delegation representing the country's travel trade professionals.

His Excellency Faiszer Mustafa, Deputy Minister of Tourism for Sri Lanka is heading the island nations' tourism promotion drive in the Middle East.

Heading a team of over 100 travel trade professionals including public and private sector officials, HE Mustafa met with key officials from the regions tourism industry to underline Sri Lanka's potential as a tourist destination.

Middle East travellers visiting Sri Lanka surged by 24% in 2008 showing promising growth, driven by heightened consumer awareness in the Middle East and SLTPB is working to sustain this in 2009 and beyond.
