This represents a five percent increase over 2008, with its key markets, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, witnessing stellar growth of 23 percent and 10 percent respectively.

"We are pleased to have begun 2009 on a strong note despite the economic downturn affecting the global tourism industry," said Jason Ong, Area Director for Middle East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board.

"With great-value promotions on offer and new attractions coming on stream, Middle East travellers visiting Singapore will continue to be greeted with unique and exciting experiences throughout the year,"

added Ong.

Renowned as a top family friendly and cosmopolitan destination, Singapore has further enhanced its tourism offerings with the launch of the 2009 Reasons to Enjoy Singapore campaign, which positions Singapore as a vibrant, value for money destination.

This summer, Middle East visitors will be able to stroll along the tree lined boulevard of Orchard Road - which recently underwent a multi-million dollar upgrade - as they hunt for the best bargains at the Great Singapore Sale. Or indulge in Singapore delights with the free Singapore Food Sampler during the Singapore Food Festival!

Singapore's exhibition stand at Arabian Travel Market 2009 will be located in Hall 8 (# AS410) of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
