  • PRESS RELEASE

Representatives from the world's most innovative companies are to converge on the Etisalat Academy on May 13-14th to share the latest strategies and best practise for the deployment of Quadplay services at the 'Quadplay and Beyond' conference.

A line-up of twelve of the most notable companies in the telecom industry, including Alcatel Lucent, Qualcomm, SoftAtHome, Avaya, LG-Nortel, Motorola, Ericsson, Huawei, Juniper, Kineto, Telcordia and Zhone will address the region's operators to discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by the industry.

David Brennan, General Manager of the Etisalat Academy set the agenda for the conference saying:

"Customer churn results in escalating costs and disruption for service providers. The question all operators face is how should they reduce churn and increase revenues. One solution is to package multiple services into one customer friendly bundle - quadruple play."

Quadruple play or Quadplay is the term used when an operator bundles fixed-line voice and data services with cable television and mobile phone services in one price bundle. Today several countries in the Middle East deploy triple play services combining three fixed-line services, for example Etisalat's All-in-One package.

Mr. Brennan continued:

"Bundling has the potential to revise the fortunes of service providers if they develop packages that are in tune with their market segments. However, the transition is not a simple one and these service providers will face significant hurdles along the way. This is why we have brought together the leading companies in this field to help the region's operators navigate a path to secure and growing revenue streams."

The topics to be covered by the speakers include the strategies for convincing consumers to switch to triple and Quadplay; IPTV deployment; the introduction of wireless into a bundle; international best practice and learnings from early Quadplay offerings; and regional insight and forecasts for the technology.
