Sustainable technical solutions developed within UAE unveiled

Lootah Technical Centre, a division of the S.S. Lootah Group, hosted an event titled 'My Green Life', on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 which showcased sustainable technological solutions developed within the UAE.

The event was organised to mark the collaboration with SHARP Middle East and 'Sustainable Energy Technologies' (S.E.T).

During the event LTC displayed a solar powered boat and car, as well as a 'Productive House' conceived in line with the vision of the S.S. Lootah Group to give back to the community and the environment.

The house, supported by SHARP Middle East and S.E.T, addresses food security and energy independence. It is fully self-sustaining for food, water, electricity and gas needs using solar, wind and bio-gas technologies.

LTC adopts a unique model of teaching, training and application in industry. It aims to develop the regional human capital through sector-specific technical education and training, to address the needs of the community and the economy, in line with the UAE Strategic Plan. It develops concepts that address basic community needs like food, shelter, transport and communication through innovation in sustainable technology.

Abdulmunam M. Lootah, CEO - LTC commented,

Our model includes incubating knowledge through applied education in strategic sectors such as space, aviation, engineering and alternative energy that are drivers of a knowledge economy. LTC's collaboration with SHARP Middle East and S.E.T will further contribute to our projects in the field of alternative energy technologies."


The LTC facility, which is located in Muhaisnah, Dubai, comprises dedicated production workshops, advanced technology halls and central laboratories for research and development, occupying over 120,000 square feet.

Fred Yamaguchi, Managing Director of SHARP Middle East said, "As leaders in solar technologies, we are proud to be associated with LTC towards a common goal of bringing clean energy to the community. We are currently working on a new solar optimum design and look forward to several other opportunities."

In addition to training, LTC offers professional services comprising of operations, consultancy, analysis, research and training to the B2B sector and government entities.
