Savoy Group of Hotels names new Vice President

The Savoy Group has appointed Sunil Marya as their Vice President.

The announcement came ahead of the opening of Dubai's Arabian Travel Market on Tuesday, where the hotel group is participating.

"I feel honoured to have been given this opportunity to manage the operations of the Savoy hotel apartments along with my current assignment as Vice President of Marco Polo Hotel," Marya said of his appointment.

Marya joined the Savoy group in 1996 with the opening of its first Savoy Suites in Bur Dubai. The group today boasts of the highly successful & best in their category properties namely Savoy Suites, Savoy Crest and Savoy Park.

He took charge of Marco Polo Hotel, the group's first four-star property in 2002 which has earned fame for its hospitality and food and beverage outlets.

Marya has more than 31 years of solid hospitality experience spanning careers with prestigious hotels including the InterContinental Group where he started his career at Taj Mahal InterContinental in Mumbai, India.

He was also associated with Kempinski hotels , the Raheja Hotel Group in Mumbai, and the Golden Tulip, Dubai prior to joining the Savoy Group.

Quizzed on his visions for the hotel and the group, Marya said, "I believe strongly that for properties to grow and become successful business ventures, it is important to establish a dedicated practice of providing refined customer service. I envisioned the Marco Polo Hotel to develop into the most popular four star hotel in Dubai. We have dedicated employees who provide valuable and personalized services to our guests, which has led to the creation of a loyal guest base."

He added, "Both the Savoy group and the Marco Polo Hotel have nurtured plans to expand their portfolio within the United Arab Emirates, initially in Abu Dhabi where we are in the process of finalising opportunities to manage a similar portfolio of four-star hotel and hotel apartments."

Meanwhile, Savoy has also appointed Mr. Faroukh Sunny as the new General Manager. Prior to this, Sunny was associated with the Taj Mahal InterContinental in Mumbai, India, Hilton Dubai and with the Berjaya group at Seychelles.
