The group was supported by members from the Coast Guard, Community Police, Ministry of Health, media and environmental societies, and Muharraq Club and national football team star Mohammed Salmeen.
The volunteers, who spent more than two hours clearing the beach, were treated to a sumptuous lunch at the end of the exercise. Another highlight of the day was a raffle draw that marked the end of the day's program and the winners were given various prizes including laptops and digital cameras.
Mr. Aaref Hejras, CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq said,
"One of the aspects that truly set Diyar Al Muharraq apart is our solid commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. We are greatly pleased that we are able to contribute and be associated with the environmental conservation in the Kingdom. It is initiatives such as these that play a significant role in stimulating the attention of the community and spreading awareness and responsibility in future generations. We are collaborating with the government on more initiatives such as these that enable youth to promote the importance of environmental awareness."
The initiative, which is one of many undertaken by the community focused developer, is in line with the Diyar Al Muharraq's overall aim of offering a better lifestyle and high quality residential choices for the whole community. The beach cleaning program is one of the various social responsibility programs that Diyar Al Muharraq has set in place to strengthen community ties and help build a better future for all in the Kingdom.
A key goal of the Diyar Al Muharraq is to offer an enhanced standard of living for all strata of society by focusing on the natural and built environment in and around the development.
With 30,000 properties planned housing for over 120,000 people, Diyar Al Muharraq's construction is moving at a brisk fast pace with reclamation of phase 1 nearing 97% completion.
